What does a dangerous goods safety advisor do?
The tasks of an (external) dangerous goods safety adviser are easy to outline, as they are prescribed by law. According to §8 of the Dangerous Goods Officer Ordinance (GbV), the dangerous goods officer is primarily responsible for the following duties and tasks:
- Consulting and monitoring of compliance with the regulations for the transport of dangerous goods
- Written documentation of all consulting activities
- Preparation of reports in case of dangerous goods accidents
- Sufficient and regular instruction of employees
- Preparation of the annual report
- Retention of documents for five years

As external dangerous goods safety advisors, we train your employees. In this way, we ensure that all parties involved implement the dangerous goods processes in compliance with the rules.

Complete documentation
We keep records of all activities. We send these to you after the inspection. Each employee trained by us receives a confirmation of participation. If not all employees are on site, they can also participate in our online training ADR 1.3 or company specific ADR training (available also in english). As your dangerous goods safety advisor, we are also responsible for preparing the annual report.

FAQ – External dangerous goods safety adviser
When do I need a dangerous goods safety adviser as a company? Or when do I have to appoint a dangerous goods safety adviser?
Every company involved in the transport of dangerous goods must generally appoint a dangerous goods safety advisor. There are few exceptions to this. Contact us, we will be happy to check whether you are exempt from this appointment.
Why do you need an annual report?
The annual report is mandatory according to the Dangerous Goods Ordinance and is prepared annually by the dangerous goods officer. It covers all matters relating to the activities of the dangerous goods safety adviser, such as training, accidents, special incidents and the quantity of dangerous goods transported.
What does an external dangerous goods safety advisor cost?
We work as your external dangerous goods safety advisor at a flat rate starting from € 125,- per month. As an external dangerous goods safety advisor, we take over all activities that are prescribed within the framework of the legal requirements: We train your employees, we prepare your annual report and we check your dangerous goods processes on site. We also offer additional services such as training in load securing according to VDI 2700.
What is an external dangerous goods safety adviser
The dangerous goods safety advisor, also known as safety advisor, is the person responsible for advising and training the company in all matters relating to dangerous goods legislation. According to the law, every company involved in the transport of dangerous goods is therefore obliged to appoint a dangerous goods safety advisor.
Do you offer only road or also other modes of transport?
Yes, we offer all carriers: Besides road (ADR) also rail (RID), inland (ADN) and maritime (INBG code). In addition, we can also advise you in the area of air freight (IATA).
Are you active throughout Austria?
Yes, we are active throughout Austria. Therefore, we are always close to you.
Do I necessarily have to have a dangerous goods officer from TüV?
No. TÜV is one of the providers for the activity as an external dangerous goods safety advisor. We offer the same services. Contact us, we will be happy to make you an offer at flat rates.
How do I have to imagine the instruction of my employees?
In addition to the basics of dangerous goods law, the practical training of employees is important. We train directly at the carrier, e.g. truck, HGV. Because only the personal exchange together with all persons involved in the transport like shipper, driver, dispatcher makes the training effective.
In addition, for drivers who fall under the “1000 point regulation“, the legally required instruction according to ADR is carried out.
How much experience do you have as a dangerous goods safety advisor?

What does a consulting contract look like?
The contract includes all relevant points of the assignment. The term is usually three years. Choose a Standard, Premium or Professional contract.
What are dangerous goods safety advisors allowed to do?
After consultation with the client, we contact the respective authorities directly in the event of violations, questions, etc.. This creates trust and mitigates unpleasant queries or visits to the premises. All we need for this is the openness of all parties involved and access to the relevant departments.
